Billing
Billing is where you review your plan, manage your subscription, request a refund, and download invoices. It has three tabs: My plan, Subscription and payment, and Invoices, all backed by live data.
Quick overview
- Open Billing from your settings.
- Review your plan, its entitlements, and your monthly AI credit use on My plan.
- Cancel, resume, or manage your subscription on Subscription and payment.
- Request a refund from My plan if you are within the eligible window.
- Download invoices as PDFs, or view the hosted version.
My plan
| Element | Shown when | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Current plan | Always | Plan name, and price and billing interval if paid, or marked as free |
| Renewal date | Active paid subscription, not cancelled | The date your subscription automatically renews |
| Cancellation date | Active paid subscription, cancelled | The date you drop to the free tier |
| Gift validity | Admin-granted plan | A gift plan (active, no payment on file) shows the date it lapses back to the free tier, or that it never expires |
| This month's AI credits | Plan with a metered AI allowance | Used against your monthly limit, with a small progress bar, or "Unlimited" if your plan has no cap. This resets at the start of each month. |
| Entitlements | Always | A full list of your quotas and features, including your design and storage limits, pulled from the same source the app enforces so what you see here always matches your real limits |
| Upgrade / change plan | Always | Opens the pricing page to compare plans |
| Request a refund | Active paid subscription only | Opens the refund request dialog (see below) |
Each entitlement row shows whether it is included and its value, a checkmark or an X, next to a number or a Yes/No. The AI credit meter is a plan allowance, not a separate charge: you are billed for your plan tier, and the credits are what that tier includes each month. See Storage and quotas for what your storage and design limits mean day to day.
Subscription and payment
This tab shows your subscription status and gives you the controls to cancel, resume, or manage payment.
| Status | Label shown | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| active | Active | Current and paid |
| trialing | Trial | In a trial period |
| past_due | Payment pending | A charge failed, update your card (see Payment problems below) |
| incomplete | Not completed | Checkout was started but never finished |
| canceled | Canceled | No longer billing |
| active or trialing, set to cancel | Cancel at period end | Still active, will not renew |
| admin-granted | Gift | A plan granted by an admin with no payment on file |
Two controls sit here. Cancel subscription (or Undo cancellation once you have cancelled) is handled in the app directly. Manage subscription opens the secure Customer Portal, where you update your payment card, change plans, and see your full billing history, all outside the app for security. A gift plan shows neither control, since there is nothing to pay or cancel.
If you have no active subscription (free plan, or self-hosted), this tab shows a designed empty state explaining that instead, with a link to view plans.
Starting a new plan from the pricing page opens a hosted checkout, with promo codes supported. If you already have an active subscription, choosing a different plan opens the Customer Portal instead of a new checkout, so you never end up with two subscriptions at once. After a successful checkout, you land back on My plan with a confirmation, and the confirmation marker is cleared from the address bar so refreshing or sharing the link does not repeat it.
Each tab is a direct link
Switching tabs updates the page's URL to match, so you can bookmark or share a link that opens straight to Invoices or Subscription and payment instead of always landing on My plan first.
Cancelling
Cancellation is done in the app, on the Subscription and payment tab, not in the portal. Pressing Cancel subscription opens a confirmation that asks for an optional reason (from a short list, with a comment box) and makes clear this is not a refund. When you confirm, your plan is set to cancel at the end of the current period: it stays active and you keep full access until that date, then does not renew and you drop to the free tier.
If you change your mind before the period ends, press Undo cancellation on the same tab to resume normal renewal. While a cancellation is pending, the tab shows a clear warning with the date your access ends.
Refunds
If you want your money back rather than just stopping future renewals, use Request a refund on the My plan tab. The button only appears when you have an active paid subscription.
The dialog targets your most recent paid invoice and shows the amount, invoice number and date, and a snapshot of your usage (storage, designs, days since payment, and period end) so your request carries context. Pick a reason category, optionally add a note, and submit.
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| Within 3 business days of payment | Eligible for an automatic full refund. On submit, the refund is processed immediately, your subscription is cancelled, and your tier drops. The button reads Start refund. |
| More than 3 business days after payment | The request goes to the team's review queue instead of refunding automatically. The button reads Send refund request, and you are told the result will follow. |
| You already have an open request | You cannot open a second one until the first is resolved. |
| No paid invoice on file | There is nothing to refund, and the dialog says so. |
Only an organization owner or admin can submit a refund request. If an automatic refund cannot be processed for a technical reason, it is not silently marked done: it falls to the review queue so a person handles it.
Payment problems
If a renewal charge fails, your subscription goes to the "past due" state and a red banner appears across the top of every workspace page: it warns that your latest renewal payment could not be taken and offers Update your card, which opens the Customer Portal. This banner cannot be dismissed while the payment is outstanding, because losing access is the alternative. Once you update your card and the charge succeeds, the banner clears on its own.
Invoices
Each invoice lists its date, number, amount, and status.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Paid | Payment succeeded |
| Open | Payment pending |
| Void | Cancelled before payment |
| Refunded | Paid, then refunded |
Download any invoice as a PDF where one exists (the Download link), or open the hosted version when a PDF is not available yet (the View link), for your records. Invoices stay visible even after you downgrade, so your history is always reachable. Before you have ever been on a paid plan, this tab shows a designed empty state instead of a blank table, with a link to view plans.
How to use it
Download last month's invoice
- Open Settings, choose Billing, then the Invoices tab.
- Find the row for the period you want by its date and number.
- Press Download to save the PDF. If a row shows View instead, its PDF is not ready yet, so use the hosted version that opens.
Cancel your subscription, then undo it
- Open Billing, then Subscription and payment.
- Press Cancel subscription. In the confirmation, optionally pick a reason and add a comment, then confirm. Your access stays until the period-end date shown, and the tab now warns that the plan will not renew.
- Changed your mind? Return to the same tab and press Undo cancellation any time before that date to resume normal renewal.
Request a refund within the eligible window
- Open Billing, then My plan, and press Request a refund (visible only with an active paid subscription).
- Review the amount, invoice, and usage snapshot. The dialog tells you whether you are inside the 3-business-day automatic window or headed for review.
- Choose a reason, optionally add a note, and press Start refund (automatic) or Send refund request (review). An automatic refund also cancels your subscription and drops your tier right away.
Fix a failed payment
- When the red past-due banner appears, press Update your card in it (or use Manage subscription on the Subscription and payment tab).
- Update your card in the portal. The charge retries, and the banner clears once payment succeeds.
Common tasks
- Compare or switch plans: My plan, Upgrade / change plan.
- Change your payment card: Subscription and payment, Manage subscription.
- Stop future renewals without a refund: Subscription and payment, Cancel subscription.
- Get older receipts: the Customer Portal, reached from Manage subscription, holds the full history beyond what the Invoices tab lists.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What is happening and what to do |
|---|---|
| No "Request a refund" button | It appears only with an active paid subscription. On the free or a self-hosted plan there is nothing to refund. |
| Refund did not process instantly | Automatic refunds only apply within 3 business days of payment. Later requests go to review, and you are told the outcome will follow. |
| "You already have an open request" | A refund request is already pending. Wait for it to resolve before opening another. |
| Refund submit is refused | Only an organization owner or admin can submit a refund request. |
| A past-due banner is blocking you | A renewal charge failed. Update your card from the banner or the portal; the banner clears once the charge succeeds. |
| You want to change plans but already subscribe | Choosing a plan while subscribed opens the Customer Portal, not a second checkout, so you cannot double-subscribe. |
States
The Subscription and Invoices tabs are each designed for more than the happy path.
| Tab | Loading | Empty | Error |
|---|---|---|---|
| Subscription and payment | Skeleton placeholder while your subscription loads | No active subscription: a card explaining you are on the free tier, with a link to view plans | Couldn't load, a message asking you to refresh |
| Invoices | Skeleton rows while invoices load | No invoices yet: a card explaining they will appear once you are on a paid plan | Couldn't load, a message asking you to refresh |
Free for individuals
Individual use is free. Paid plans add cloud storage and managed services. See Plans and limits.
Cancelling is not the same as a refund
Cancelling stops future renewals and keeps you active until the period ends. A refund returns money for your last payment and, when automatic, ends the plan immediately. Use whichever fits.
